“I need to start sharing my writing.” This thought came under the influence of inspiration. I watched a friend courageously share and was whacked with an idea.
Names matter to me. And in that vein, I wanted to give some insight as to why I named this newsletter Eureka.
If you are a first-time reader, welcome. If you're a regular, welcome back.
This is only my fourth one of these so please bear with me.
My first journal entry was in 2015. I was in college dealing with different thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
A fresh page and a high-quality ballpoint pen became not only my refuge but my anecdote to uncertainty. I’d neglect homework assignments because I’d convince myself that working on my internal home was more important.
I’d store stories on lines because I thought they would be fun to read to my grandchildren one day. “Back in my day,” I thought about my 96-year-old self reciting through my fragile bones.
As another year came about, I continued to write. It’s a practice that helps me document and find clarity. Then I thought, where are all these journals going to live? Is someone going to find them when I’m nothing but bones underground? Will people care?
Ideas come from anywhere and everywhere. Most of the time, I’ll be going through my day when all of the sudden, a load of bricks gets dropped on me. Those bricks come in the form of “IDEAS!”
I searched for a word or a name that could encapsulate my enthusiasm for creative ideas. I needed a name that could speak to my creative process and how I find insights in my life or how insights find me.
Eureka!
According to Ms. Merriam Webster; Eureka is an interjection, advective, and a verb meaning “I have found it.”
As I continue to walk and experience this beautiful life I hope to share my findings and inspire you to live a life with meaning!
In summary:
Don’t wait to start a new endeavor or creative project. There is no perfect time.
Look for Eureka moments in your life and write them down. Otherwise, the idea will find a new host.
Share courageously.
be well,
Fletch
