Last week I had the opportunity to give a talk about LOVE. (It was very fitting because it just so happened to be Valentine’s Day)
You see, one of the craziest decisions I’ve ever made in my life was to follow a Love wizard down the east coast of Africa. Sounds bizarre right?
That ONE decision spiraled into a two-year-long documentary film exploring “Love.” Which we called Blue Marble Sky
In the film, we interview a Christian missionary, a Buddhist monk, a psychologist, and a guy who started the forgiveness project at Stanford.
Through the making of that film, doors opened.
Physical doors and spiritual ones.
The physical doors have been in the realm of filmmaking, speaking engagements, and hosting mental health workshops. Using “story” as a tool to give people perspective. And offering breathing/movement techniques to help control stress.
The spiritual doors have been healing/transforming the posture of my heart. Understanding that love has no limits, no boxes, and is bigger than my squirrel brain will ever be able to comprehend.
Love is a lens. Change your lens and you’ll change the way you experience your life.
For me, I am someone who learns through experience. Hence the need to trek down the coast with a love wizard instead of just reading an Eckert Tolle book.
That yearning to experience comes from a passion inside to not only tell fantastic stories but live a fantastic story.
